we are planning a migration from siloed systems to a central S8720. my boss would like to keep internal dialing the same as it is today, but he wants us to create a 6-digit office-to-office dial plan. since I have experience with the multi-location dial plan, I have two questions (for now):

1) does the multi-location dial plan require reprogramming all extensions or do I simply add a prefix to the locations form?

2) can there be different "internal " extension lengths, or does everything have to have the same extension legnth less the prefix?

You'll have to relog all your phones in with 6 digits (or at least we had to)... You should then be able to use the option on page 3 of the station form to display (4) digits to the phone:

Call Appearance Display Format: intra-location

I personally have not got that to work though, so I worked with some of our network guru's and wrote a script that edited the 7-digit call-appearances in the phones back-up file to represent (4) digits.

And I believe your internal extensions can be any length...

Thanks,
CJH
