multi select ??

hi :)

how do you do those select boxes that have sub-select boxes in them - just like :
option1
option2
option3
option4

and when you click on option3 you get the sub-select appearing :
option1
option2
option3 > option3.1
> option3.2
> option3.3
option4

i'm NOT looking for a hierarchical menu script, i want to use "select" and "option" and i'm sure there's something about nodes or adding sub-elements somewhere
i've been searching on msdn (as it target mainly ie) but i can't find the info i need - so if anyone here has any idea, i'm waiting for you !!

that was not exactly what i was looking for - those solutions can be used as workarounds tho - what i was (and am still !) looking for is a way to use the "optgroupt" option, or an equivalent (all your solutions have many selectboxes/elements, whereas i want only ONE select box)
i'll let you know if i find any solution
