We have a NT 4.0 server that is currently multi-processor. We want to archive the current system with Symantec Ghost to a single processor machine. However, if the image is restored to the single processor machine, a blue screen is shown at bootup stating a MPS and HAL.DLL error (I assume from it only detecting one processor).
I read a MSKB article that said to copy the HAL.DLL from a single processor setup, but the boot disks I am using can not access NTFS partitions. I found a READNTFS bootdisk frmo bootdisks.com but it can only read, not write.
Is there a way to do this? Either by copying the file, by another means, or even making the current system only see one processor, then imaging it?
Thanks,
Mike
