Hi

One day, another guy in the office was trying to backup his files for his chinese window temporally on the server for an upgrade of his pc. He found that the server was not able to handle some of his files and folders (chinese). There should be some way of turning the server to multi-lingual. Can someone please shed a light on this?

BTW how long can a file name be on the Novell server?

Thanks

Hi, it seems you've been left out in the cold here. I have never heard of a multi-lingual server but I do know that there are still restrictions on some characters you can use. Make sure LFS (Long Filename Support)is enabled on the volumes, you should then get a char depth of I think 255. The only other way I know of setting the Language type is when you first setup the server but that would put the whole server into that language. See if windows with the language pack loaded can do a windows backup and restore to a normal PC then check the filenames.
