Mulitple Static Routes

I am running Netware 6.5 with BM 3.8 at my firewall. Here is what I need to do.

I currently have the following routes setup on my BM server
192.168.1.0 , 2.0, 3.0 4.0 5.0with my default gateway. Which all works.

But we are creating an offsite location and I need to be able to route my traffic through if for some reason my main T1/frame relay circuits become unavailable.

At my offsite location I have 6 ISDN lines that are to be used if my default route becomes unavailable.

I need help creating the rules for BM to allow this to happen. I have heard of BM being able to detect down routes...But I have no idea how to setup a backup route and then what exceptions to add.

Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.

Since Novell TCPIP version 5.80 / 5.90 it is possible to have more than one default route. There is always one primary default route and one or more secondary default routes.

Just go in, add a second default route and give it a metric of 2

Do I have to have any filters for the new routes? Also, do I need to enable Down Route Detection?

Your filters should not be an issue, the filters only govern teh traffic comming in and the traffic going out of the NIC. They do not govern were the traffic is sent to.

Do note, unless you set it up with your ISP, any static NAT entries or incomming traffic will not work, this fail over will only allow you to get out of your network. So any mail server you host, or any web server you host will be unavilable from the internet.

You can however add a second MX record for your mail server with a cost of say, 50. so if the primary address does not resolve, the second one will be used. I think you can do the same for other DNS entries, but haven;t gone that far my self.

Not familure with Down Route Detection, nor can I find any reference to it in the manauals. Do you mean Dead Gateway Detection? Yes, you do need to enable that.
