I have a question about this virus. I was just reading a post on it from back in December.
I am using Win95 OSR2 at work, cause they make me.%-( I have to run McAffee AV, prefer Norton's.:-( I did a search for *mtx*.* and came back with several files. But they seem to all relate to Visual Studio and VB. I have 5 mtx files, mtxctrl.dll is one of them.

Does this mean that I have the virus?%-) Or is it merely that someone has used files with the same names as some existing Vis Studio and VB files?

Thanks,
Don

I had that virus once, the only file name with mtx in it was called "_MTX.EXE". That virus was the more difficult to remove than any other I've run into.
Good Luck

This is a Windows virus. It also has a worm component infected with the same virus that spreads via e-mail. It also patches wsock32.dll.

If you had the virus you would have found MTX_.exe. So you are not infected and the names are a coincidence. Ed Fair
