hello

I need help. I cant see anything when I open MS Word now but the page screen, no menus, no toolbars nothing just a window with a blank page. itll open any document still but i cant change em or save em. I have replaced normal.dot and that didnt help at all, I have uninstalled and reinstalled and its still the same. does ANYONE have any clue as to what happened here or how to fix it? the rest of Office seems unaffected.

Hi not sure if this will help the only way I was able to recreate what it sounds like your seeing is to move tool bars off screen. What we can try is to start word.
1 press alt + V
2 then T
3 c
This should bring up the toolbar-customizing menu. Hopefully it does.
Now we can check the standard and formatting to bring them back or we can try the reset button.
If this doesn't work which I don't think it will you may want to repair the words reg.
1 go to start then run
2 type in winword.exe /a then okay.
This will repair the registry

Best of luck with this issue, let us know what you find out or if this works. Of course Back up files first and your reg. before doing any editing.

Good luck

Just to let you know, the winword.exe /a will reset word back to first use. So any custom toolbar icons or other things you might have added will go away after running that.
It should fix the problem though.
Just wanted to make sure I warned you about add ons being lost.

Have a look at this FAQ which may help. The /a option is possibly the right one to consider to see if the problem is resolved. Note that if you then start Word again without the switch and you have the same problem, it may have something to do with the add-ins being loaded when Word starts.

thanks wwgmr I found that and got it to work!! from the run command winword.exe /a resets without macro. I had opened a word doc and thats when things went nuts, looks like it was a macro virus of some sort.

thanks for everyones help
