Well, he's kind of had it in for DPlank ever since he accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."

Just a thought,...but the functions that are available and their syntax might be driver specific.
I.E.
leading and trailing '#' signs for dates may be required for some db's and not others.
While yet other thngs that can jam up an msquery could be the use of " instead of ' to define text.
