I installed a 3Com PCI NIC card in my 98 SE system. After the installation and restart of the system, I got the error saying that msnp32.dll was missing.

I could not find the Network Neighborhood icon on the desktop. I had checked that the msnet32.dll was in the system folder.

What is the cause of the problem ??

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

Install Client for MS Networks
Control Panel >> Network >> Add >> Client >> Microsoft >> Client for MS Networks......OK....reboot
You may need to add a Protocol and/or Service as well, though the Install CD for NIC may take care of that

If you still have probs, you may have to - Boot to Safe Mode and Remove the Drivers, then shutdown, unplug and remove the card (NIC), and then Plug in and boot and Install the Client for MS Networks....then install the card

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try.

You're welcome;
Also note that Network Neighborhood can be hidden by using TweakUI as well...so if it's installed ....look on the Desktop tab in TweakUI.
As soon as you install Client for MS.....it (Network Neighborhood) should appear on the Desktop
