I have been trying to use MSN MSGR voice chat with a friend who has Windows ME, IE6 with all the updates and the latest version of MSN MSGR. When we connect, she can hear me, but her microphone display on the IM screen has a red X in it and is unable to talk. She has tested her microphone with the Audio Tuning Wizard and it passes the test.
The chat function of Msgr works fine, just for yucks I had her download MSN Messenger again and she still gets the red X.

She has disabled her firewall with the same results. She is on a dialup with Earthlink. I'm at a loss as to what may be the problem - does anyone have any ideas?

I'd appreciate any help!!
Pat

Have you checked the master controls to make sure the mic is note muted? The speaker on the task bar and the speaker in the control panel.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll have her check the master controls - !
