I know you should be able to block the adverts that appear in the lower part of the MSN Messenger window by editing the links.txt file (in your temp folder) to empty it and then using properties to write protect the file. This worked for a while but recently messenger 6.2 has begun to display ads again - which I find really annoying. I have checked my links.txt file is still empty & write protected. I have also checked out all files modified today - but none seems to be related to MSN messenger. Anyone any ideas on how I can stop the ads! (I have searched the net - but all the advice is still regarding links.txt!)

Get MessengerPlus (from it offers an option (also in un-sponsored mode) to disable the ads.
You'll like the other options as well, I guess ;-)
