ho folks, my problem:

i have a msi 694d with an onboard fast trak "lite" raid controller (bios ver. 1.3.1).
a further fast trak 100 (bios ver. 1.3.0) was installed, too.

i can configure the raids with both controllers, but windows can't find harddisks to install on, even though i used the driver disk to install further raid controllers.

it is the same with both controllers!
is it possible to deactivate the onboard controller?

does this board use an award bios? if so you might need an update - my asus a7v333 with a promise contoller (fastrack lite) wouldn't work properly without a mobo bios upgrade -

Either the BIOS settings or an onboard jumper (varies with boards) should disable the onboard RAID.
Look at the manual.

There's more confusion created by the drivers...you ONLY want to install the drivers for the add-on RAID controller (I guess that's the 1 you want to use?)

I'm puzzled as to why you would add a controller when there's one on the motherboard?

because the onboard controller doesn't provide all the features i need.
i will check the manual once again...
