Hi I'm running windows 98 and basically anytime I try and open the control panel the PC usually hangs or slows down a heck of a lot. When i do ctrl alt del it says that msgsrv32 is not responding. Not sure if its related but I'm also having trouble getting one of the CD drives to eject (i guess thats not related) and Internet explorer keeps causing page faults in the kernel (mainly when there's more than one IE window open)

Any help with anything would be great!
Cheers
Gary

Dear

Disable power management. To do so, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power.

In the Power Management box, click Off (or click the "Allow windows to manage power on this computer" check box to clear it).

Click OK.

Restart your computer.

-------------
Go to the bios setup and disable acpi function (power management)

Mail me if u solve...

Hey THIRTEENJULY thanks for the reply. Okay i did what you said, and the cd tray now opens properly! But control panel still takes an age to open up...

Cheers

If you are still having trouble after following deke40's links try reading this article for msgsrv error. Also kernel errors can be caused by "malware". Suggest Virus scan and running Ad-aware besides cache cleanup's.
