I have a relatively small MS WOrd document (12 pages, with tables) and I find that entering each character of text takes abt .5 secs to display on the screen. I don't get this with other MS WOrd documents or other applications, and I don't have any heavy process running in the background. Its only this document. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Thanks for the help.

just a guess but I saw it happen once before where there was a problem with the .dll file that handles spell check.

Tools > options > spell and grammer tab > turn off "ckeck spelling while typing"

I doubt it's your problem cause it's a rare one but worth a try.

Then it sounds like a document problem not a word problem, but have you tried a Help > Detect and Repair?

I know that detects and repair fixes "Word" problems not "document" problems but again worth a try.
Maybe a table handling problem.

Does the word file behave the same on another PC?

Have you tried "Save As" a new file?

You are most likely going to have to eliminate possibilities one by one.

I tried Save As and restarting Word and the PC. But it still behaved the same. When it was opened on another PC, it worked perfectly. Now it seems it's working fine on my PC as well. Not sure what did it, but it works now. Thanks all for all the advice.
