Hi,
When I start MS Word I get an error message such as this one:
Microsoft Visual Basic
Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)':

Automation error
The specified module could not be found.

I am then diven the option to End or Help. Continue and Debug are greyed out.
I click on End and Word works just fine but what is causing this problem as it is getting a little annoying getting the box pop up every time I open Word.

I am using Word 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1)

Any thoughts would be great. I have looked on the google but been unable to come up with anything of use.
cheers
Lenny

Sounds like normal.dot is messed up. It seems to be trying to run something, or at least making a call to a module it can't find. It is also possible that it is making reference to something that has not been referenced properly. In either case, if you have not made deliberate cause for some VB routine to run at startup...something else is trying to. Unless you have critical macros in normal.dot, delete it and start up Word again.

Have you done a thorough virus scan lately?

Gerry

Thanks Gerry,
I have deleted all the normal.dot files from my system but still the error pops up.

My antivirus is up to date as is the fire wall and I have run a complete system scan and nothing was found.
any more thoughts?

Hmmm. Is it only Word that is doing this?

Found the following. Hope it helps...

Launching Benefit Engine gives the error: "Run-time Error -2147024770 (8007007e): 'Automation error. The specified module could not be found.'."

Summary:
This document explains the symptoms and resolution of the above error message.

Description:
This error is caused by the absence of one or more files from the computer's System folder.

Resolution:
The DAO350.dll file could be missing from the System folder, or improperly registered. Reinstall the DAO350.dll file and register it by choosing Run from the Start menu in the taskbar and typing the following: "Regsvr32.exe DAO350.dll" without quotes.

The msvcrt40.dll file could be missing from the System folder, or improperly registered. Reinstall the msvcrt40.dll file and register it by choosing Run from the Start menu in the taskbar and typing the following: "Regsvr32.exe msvcrt40.dll" without quotes.

Yep,
All the other microsoft programs work just fine. In fact all the other programs work fine on the computer. Virus check found nothing. AddAware found a few things but nothing worrying and that has been cleaned up but still the Run-time error keeps coming back.

It is starting to look like an uninstall and reinstall but I would still like to get to the bottom of the problem.

OK, I have upgraded my version and a new message came up telling me that macros were disabled both on start up and when I closed Word down. I looked into the Office startup folder and discovered opware97.dot and RoboPDF.dot (that one I trialed some time ago)and also RoboPDF.XLT.

I have deleted all those and Word seems to be working OK now. So i guess it must have been caused by RoboPDF.

Thanks for all your help on this forum.. First Class.
