The main difference is in the developer.
The one with which you have the most experience will be the better platform - any difference in the products will pale into insignificance compared to that.
With both products you can probably implement whatever you need to and there's not a lot of difference in performance.
A consideration might be that sql server is windows based so if you are an MS site that's an obvious choice.
