I have a strange case in MS Project (2003) where a summary task takes more days Work than then sum of the Work of the subtasks. It seems to be using the Duration rather that the Work. Why? What can I do to force it to use the sum?

I have created a very simple test project with this example with a summary task with 2 subtasks. Each subtask has 0 work, but the summary task has 232 days (which is the same as the Duration).

See attachment for example.

Hello brusselsshrek,

You have a resource assigned to the summary task "Summary Task which doesn't work".

Remove the resource Ovidiu POPAN from the summary task and assign resources to sub tasks.

I hope this helps.
