Hi Forum!

I am running W98 SE and using MS Office XP (Word).

My problem is:

I am creating detailed science reports and have a need to import pictures into the pages to explain certain things. The pictures scan (.Jpg) alright and they import alright. Looking at my monitor the whole document looks great. I then go to Print Preview (just in case) and the whole document looks brilliant. Full of confidence I then select print and go away and make a cup of tea.

When I return I see that all the text is as per expected but the imported pictures are huge and do not fit in the portion of the page I cropped them to. It is as if they are being printed at their original size? I am confused as I have checked the document format on Print Preview and it all looked great.

My printer is a HPdeskjet 940c.

Can anyone advise/help?

Many thanks in advance

Wow. Could you test something out?

Take the first few pictures, right-click, hit Format picture. On the text wrapping, choose Inline with text. Use paragraph formatting to center them or whatever else you want to do with them. Then print again. Does that help?

You should certainly be getting what the preview shows. Do you by chance have a different printer installed that is the default? Are you sure you have the most recent driver for your printer?

Just some things to think about.

Inline with text done.
paragraph formatting done.
Correct and up to date printer installed.

Tried another printout but still got the same results :(

If I import a small picture then it is ok, it is only when I import a large one which I have to adjust to fit which makes it all go haywire.

It is really doing my head in and my science report is suffering now because of it. Any help is appreciated and thank you Dreamboat for answering so fast.

Here is what has happened behind the scenes.....

"Dreamboat" kindly offered to view my files for me to check out the problem.

After a bit of sending and receiving Dreamboat got back to me, very quickly, and told me that the files printed ok.

Going further, Dreamboat also pointed me towards a link to install a new printer driver (HP940c). I then installed the driver and the problem was resolved. All that for a dodgy printer driver, lesson learnt!

I would like to say a BIG thank you to "Dreamboat" for some excellent help with this problem. Not only did I receive some sound advice but also some very appreciated practical help too.

I strongly recommend Dreamboat and urge people to visit Dreamboats website:

So thanks dreamboat and thanks Tek-Tips for providing an excellent forum of help.
