I have a 1.6 GHz P4, Asus P4S333 systemboard 256MB PC2700 RAM with MS XP Prof (clean install)running. I installed Office XP (did not own but wanted to peak), then uninstalled it from ADD/Remove Applications, I installed MS Office 2000 then the SR1 packs (CD1, CD2). This worked well for several weeks. I (should have left this alone) uninstalled Office 2000, then installed Office XP again and when opened Outlook 2002 had the MS documented issue with "Error Message: MAPI Was Unable to Load the Information Service Pstprx.dll" (MS Tech. Note Q293058). They (MS)are still working on this one and I did not want to try the workaround. I used the "System Restore" to restore XP to just prior to my uninstalling Office 2000 SR1. I thought this worked untill I noticed that Word, Powerpoint, etc. would not run from the Icons. To make a long story short. How can I completely unistall all the Office reminants from XP and be able to reinstall either Office 2000 or Office XP so that it is stable and functional.

When you uninstalled the program, did you make sure you deleted the shared files as well (if it asked you)? Did you also make sure you uninstalled the SR1 packs? Also try deleting the original folder that the program was saved into. If this doesn't work, try running scandisk or if you have Norton, run the scanner programs on that. You may have shared files complications that's preventing your icons from properly executing the programs. if all else fails, i would simply reinstall Windows XP.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks for the response. I did all the normal things to remove Office XP and Office 2000. None of the MS tools go completely remove Office work in XP (Windows Installer 2). This is a problem that MS knows about (I think that it is a big one since it involves MS Office which is a critical business app). At this point I have used the XP Professional "System Restore" unsuccessfully, and the OS repair function unsuccessfully. I will be doing a wipe and clean reinstall of XP. That should work, but is a lot of work (many drivers have to be downloaded from the mfrs. and installed). It is too bad that no one else had any help for me, I was hoping.
