Can anyone tell me what the pros and cons are for using IIS and .net as opposed to Apache for web services. Its likely that IIS and .net will be used but I'm not sure what marks this out as the better option as I believe both technologies are available. Trying to get an idea of the bigger picture on these issues if anyone can help?? Cheers.

MS IIS (.net) verses Apache for web services?

Well, if you like Linux, if you dont have enough money to invest on windows 2000/03 Server (IIS),if you don't mind configuring the web services, by typing on text files, if your network is not based on windows, if you would like to reduce the probabilities of attacks, I would suggest you to go Apache. But if you like GUI, if your network is based on windows OSs, if you like simple configurations by just clicking here or there, if you dont mind paying for Windows 2000/03 Server, if the risk of being attacked from the outside/inside because of the fact that you will have windows 2000/03 as a web server could be avoided at a degree that you will feel confortable, then I would suggest IIS.
