Hi,

I am looking to compare the values of two MS Excel 2000 spreadsheets. I would like any exceptions to be exported to a separate spreadsheet. Therefore the basic logic breakdown would be as follows:

- Compare spreadsheet A and B
- if values are the same do nothing
- if values are different, export value to appropriate field in the Exceptions spreadsheet

How would I go about accomplishing this? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott.

Since this is not the VBA forum, I assume you would be looking for a non-VBA way to do this:

Using backed-up copies of your sheets:

Select all on one worksheet and copy.
Then select all on the other worksheet and paste special subtract.

Cells that match will now be zero. Cells that were different will be non-zero.

Very nice Zathraas - that's certainly a novel way of going about it :)

I agree with Geoff, very interesting solution, Zathras!

Zathras,

Thanks for the suggested solution. I realize now that I should have posted my question in the VBA thread. I need to be able to programmatically compare the two spreadsheets and then export the comparison results to a new spreadsheet. I need to have all the cell information to appear in the new spreadsheet not just the zeros.

Once again, thanks for your quick response. I will repost my original question in the proper forum.

Scott.
