I am trying to setup a link to Visual Foxpro tables using ODBC. I am able to open all of the linked tables in Access except one. When I try to open it I get the message:

"The form or report is based on a query that exceeds the limit for data in a single record"

The Visual Foxpro table has 169 fields with a total length of 4672. I have heard that Access is wimpier than VFP and it appears true. Does this mean Access has a limit on the number of fields or the size of the record? Does anyone know the exact limit?

Thanks...

but here is this pieces i think you need to worry about

Access

Number of characters in a record (excluding Memo and OLE Object fields) 2,000

while foxpro is
Maximum # of characters per record 65,500

Thanks for that information. I guess I found one of the real differences between Access and Visual Foxpro.

Max characters per record - Access 2000
Max characters per record - Foxpro 65500
