Hi,
I have a citrix server that i am planning on moving to a new faster server. We have about 60 existing profiles on the old one. I have tried moving them to the new server by "copy profile too" function but when the user log's into the new server, a new profile is created with the domain name appended. For example, JohnS on the old one is replaced with JohnS.DomainName on the new server. How can I continue to upgrade my server without requirng all of the users passwords?

Would there be any mileage in using roaming profiles for the move? Create a shared profile folder on a file server and in ADUC put the profile path in 'Terminal Server profile'. Let the users log on and off, therefore populating the roaming profile share. When they log on to the new server it will use the roaming profile. Let me know if you think the idea is madness, but it may be worth a shot!!

Regards, Darren

I am with Darren on this one. I prefer raomin profiles, but then again I usually work in multpile server farms.

I recently completed this exact project.

We used roaming profiles for our users and pointed them to \\server\profile under the terminal server mappings.

I built a new server with more h/d space and faster hardware. Once the server was completed, I created a share named "Profile" under the new server.

We backed up the data from the original profile server and restored to the new server. Once that was completed, I used Hyena to go into all the users and reconfigure the terminal server mappings to point to \\server2\profile.

Hope this helps!
