I am installing an option 11 that was working in one city and installing it in a different city, What changes would be required to have this work in the new city. Would I have to make changes to BARS, etc?

You might as well Default it ans start from scratch.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I have to agree w/ you Ace. Better to start over and know how it's programmed, then to deal w/ every issue as it presents itself.

You have knoe idea how much is programmed wrong or corrupted.

This is a pbx that I have been working with for years and have no problems. As far as the pbx is concerned all the other programming remains the same regardless of the location except the area code dialling.
My question had to do with the area code programming. Can the new local area code just be defined and the pbx will now know that the other area codes are LD? If that is the case how would this be done?

I would still go with Aces suggestion, but at least wipe your NPA and NXX's and start fresh with a new script. Check your CLID's too.

The list could keep going on, Do you have any ACDs or Phantoms that dial out to a local number?

Start fresh!

BARS changes will probably be limited to changing what is local and what is long distance.

The trunk routes will need changing because you might not be able to duplicate DID setup and ranges. That also could mean the phone DNs are out of synch with the DID ranges you can obtain.

While everyone says "start from scratch", don't let that seem like a tremendous load of work until you know what you can order in the new city. Scratch can mean as little as BARS, trunks routes and trunks. And it doesn't mean you have to delete everything.

Although, if it were me - I _would_ delete everything (leaving me with a LD17 Configuration Record ONLY) and start over.

Thanks for helping. Are NPA and NXX pre-programmed on a PBX or do you have to enter all NPA's and NXX's?

You have to enter them yourself.

You said everything would be the same in the new location, but I doubt it will be even close. Are all the DN's the same, are all the boss's and Secty the same, are all the hunt and Forward's the same, are all the DID's the same? Be smate and start from the beginning.

There are fine ways of making abbreviated BARS using SPNs and ARRN so you don't have to enter every NPA and NXX, such as this.

SPN 0 Operator
SPN 00 LD Operator
SPN 011 Intl
SPN 1 Toll
ARRN 800 Toll Free
ARRN 855 Toll Free
ARRN 866 Toll Free
ARRN 877 Toll Free
ARRN 888 Toll Free
ARRN 900 Pay Per Call
SPN 2 Local
SPN 3 Local
SPN 4 Local
SPN 5 Local
SPN 6 Local
SPN 7 Local
SPN 8 Local
SPN 9 Local
ARRN 11 Local 911
