I have just taken over as admin for a small company that uses 2000 server and workstation. At present, all profiles are local and I want to move them to roaming. I've set up the network folders and shared it out. I've addded the UNC to each users profile and it works fine.
How do I get the data in the local profile into the roaming profile without having to go to each machine and manually copy it?

thanks

Steve

If you have no roaming profile at the moment the user will get their local one, when they log off this profile will be written back as the roaming one (in theory!) and then when they log back on the roaming profile will be used (as per settings in the user account)

If I remember right, this is the procedure a PC will go through upon login (concerning profiles)

1- Check "Roaming" path for profile
2- Check "Local" path for profile
3- If no existing profile exists, look for default profile on DC
4- If no DC default profile exists, look for local default profile
5- If nothing is found (as an existing profile or a template for one), create generic profile.
