Moving databases between FPW2.6 and excel

First a warning... when moving from excel to fpw, column widths are chopped back if they are partly obscured. Haven't checked to see what happens if they are hidden.

Question is: Does anybody have some tricks for maintaining column widths when one goes from FPW to excel and back to FPW ?

if your using internet exlorer 5 or later and win98 machine check out /windows/samples/wsh/excel.vbs
use that to set your colum widths then do your import.
vbscript can open fox2.6 dbfs and excel spreadsheet.
