I've got an older SQL 2000 (win 2k SP4) cluster that is currently using a shared SCSI enclosure which is running out of space and having some other issues. I am going to attach the cluster nodes to a SAN and want to move everything off of the existing shared drives to new LUNs on the SAN. I want to get rid of the SCSI enclosure completely.

I am clear on how to move the databases and the quorum to new drives but I know there are some other files being used one of the existing shared drives (logs among other things) and I can't seem to find any info how to move these or what else needs to be configured so that I am dump the SCSI enclosure.

Specifcally there is a shared drive with a Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL directory on it with BACKUP, Data, FTDATA, JOBS, LOG and REPLDATA directories in it and I know some of these are being used. How do I redirect all of this content?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

If you wantget rid of your older drive completly. Follow this process.

1.) backup all db's to a network drive in case of an emergency.
2.) Goto services changes Microsoft SQL service from automatic to Diabled.
4.) Change the old Lund Drive (E:\ to F:\) to a new letter.
3.) Add your new Lunnd to the server. New Lund: and assign E:\.
4.) Restart the server.
5.) Verfiy all drives and data shows up.
6.) Using robocopy (free from microsoft) copy all data from F:\ to E:\. (Robocoy will copy all files, shares and Ntfs security.
7.) Change the SQL service back to autoimatic.
8.) Reboot the server.

Hope this might get you start.

Good Luck.

Ah, that's sounds like it should fine. All the paths will be the same as far as SQL is concerend...

Thanks!
