Moving Bridgehead server to new site

This is just a pre-emptive question to save some potential heartache at the weekend...

I have a 14 site exchange build of 5.5 enterprise SP4 on NT4/2000 fully patched and SP'ed.

I am migrating the responsibilities of 2 servers, one is currently the hub site for directory replication, the other simply a node off that replication hub. I need to move the role of hub from site a to site b, site a becoming a node of site b in the future and all other sites replicating to b.

In preperation for this I have created new X400 connectors (No domain trusts at this stage) from the new hub server out to each of the node servers and am anticipating that I will then simply need to delete each connector off the current hub, the node server do an integrity check on each and then re-create the directory replication to the node via the new hub. Wash rinse and repeat until all sites are moved across. Then delete the old X400 connectors (Apart from the one linking the old hub to the new) and all should be well.....

Although I am experienced with exchange I have never done this kind of move before so wanted to throw this out in case anyone else may have had a similar experience. Anyone have any views ? Horror stories ? Advice ???

Hmmm... guess i'll have to bite the bullet... Have been off for a few days (damn flu !)

Seems like I missed the boat on replying to this before you did it - so can you report success?

Your general approach seems to be valid - the biggest problems I have been when messging around with X400 connectors is when there is a difference in the config of the two ends - espeically incorrect IP addresses in the remote host. This sometimes can cause mail loops because of incorrect routing table entries. In fact, I would recommend forcing routing table recalculation after you change any connectors, otherwise potential problems surface hours later (even next day) instead of almost immediately.
