Moving between 2000 and 2003

I have an Exchange 2000 server, and just built an Exchange 2003 server. I want to move all data to the new server. I was told by someone that I can use the migration wizard to move the mailboxes to the new server, and that it would also update the user's profiles on their PCs when they try to access the old server. Now I'm reading the Deployment Guide and I don't see this documented. In fact, it looks like you can only use the migration wizard between servers in 2 different organizations. 2 questions:

1. To move mailboxes, public folders, free/busy data from 2000 to 2003, what's the best tool(s) to use?

2. Do I have to visit each PC after the move to update their Outlook settings to point to the new server? (I have a mix of Office versions, mostly Outlook 2000 and XP).

I don't think you really need the migration wizard for what you describe. You just add the 2003 Exchange Server to your existing directory and use the mailbox move tools in the Exchange 2003 Active Directory users and computers.
It is a cake walk. As long as the Exchnage 2000 server stays online the RUS (Remote Update Service) will point your clients at their new server and no trip to the desktop is needed.

Sounds easy. No special considerations for public folders, free/busy data? After I verify every user can access the new server, I can remove the old one?

Thanks for all your help. Last question: All incoming mail is being routed to the IP address of the 2000 server. If I move some of the mailboxes to the new server, is there a way to route the mail to the new server? Once I'm done testing and moving all mailboxes I'll redirect the SMTP traffic to the new server, but I wanted to test moving some of the mailboxes over without disrupting everyone.

You can redirect all unresolved mail to that new server. Of course, all mailspoofing will go there too.
