Move Vector & Raster together

Is it possible to move an image & AutoCAD lines together, without having to do them individually?

Short answer: Yes - I'm assuming you're posting because you're having trouble doing this?

Just be sure the image is not on a locked layer, or that your lines are on a locked layer.

Thanks for the quick response, i still cant move them both together. I can do them indiviually though.
Suggestions?

Hmm...

When I did it, I used a crossing window to select all the entities I wanted to move, and then moved them.

Again, make sure the entities you are trying to move are not on a locked layer, or even a layer that may be turned off.

Also, if the drawing is a paper-space/model-space drawing, make sure all entities are in the same space. If not, you'll need to be more methodical with the move command.

Finally, check your options dialog box, under selection tab make sure the box labeled "Use shift to add to selection" is not checked, (or if this the way you prefer to create selections, make sure you are using the "Shift" key).

Is the border for the image turned OFF?

If so, try turning it on.

I have found that if the image border is off, it is difficult to select the image in the first place.

Guys,
Answers to your question,
- There is only 1 layer & that is the AutoCAD layers.
- The "Use shift to add to selection" i have tried doing this both ways to no avail.

I can select the image & the lines together (via selecting the lines, then holding shift & selecting the image) but when i come to move them its either 1 or the other which moves even though they both stay selected.

Also, FYI the image is pasted in from Excel, its not brought in through the image manager. Im guessing this could be causing the problems....

Duh... Now I understand!

Yep, that's your problem. Pictures brought in via paste, or paste special do not behave the same as pictures brought in using either the image manager or the "imageattach" command. If you really need to do this, you'll need to remove the picture, and re-insert it using one of the command from above. But in order to use one of these commands, the picture will have to be saved to a file.

Otherwise, you'll have to settle for TLAR (That Looks About Right) drawing.

I thought it was a pictre file.

When you insert directly from excel, is put it in as an OLE object. Not fun to work with. I done a few.

Tcarpenter is right, you would need to export the image from excel into a photo editing program and save it as a BMP or JPG ot TIF, or whatever. These types of files are easier to work with in AutoCAD.

If you need to do a lot of work with images in AutoCAD, I would suggest looking into Raster Design for AutoCAD. I use it, and while it is very limited in its image editing capabilities, its better then Paint!

I had originally tried that, moving it into various image editing applications but no more matter what format they were brought in with they they just didnt display correctly as the copied picture is a combination of cells/text boxes & graphs.
Its typical that the only time it works is not the way i want it to work!!

do you have Adobe Acrobat? or PDF995? or a scanner?

You could PDF/print the excel file, and extract from the pdf file a picture file.

Yeah ive got access to Acrobat/ scanners etc, but there is about 283 files to process & im on a tight timescale. Il just have to sort it out some other way.
