Hi,

W2K3 domain, 150 users using both Folder Redirection and RUPs. As part of a network upgrade, did the following:

- Moved profile data from old file server to new file server using ROBOCOPY.
- Implemented Dfs
- Changed the Profile path in AD for all users

Everything appeared to work fine until I turned off the old file server. Then users started reporting random problems (Outlook locking up, fonts options not appearing in Office apps, etc). The only way that I've been able to fix the problem is to delete the user's local and server-stored versions of their profile and have them recreate the profile. This is not making me a popular person at work...

Any thoughts as to what is wrong? Using FileMon, I was able to see that certain operations were indeed looking for the old server. Once the user's profile was re-created these queries went away.

Thanks...

I think you answered your own question. There are still opertations looking for the old server. We went through something similar recently. We had to comb through Group Policies, scripts, profiles, etc to remove any refernce to the old server. We had a problem with Word taking forever to open. Couldn't figure it out until we found an Office Group Policy that pointed to a share on the old server for the "Auto Recover Files".

Yeah, I agree - the problem is if I delete the user's roaming profile then all is well so I'm guessing that it's an issue within the server-stored profile.

Doing a night shift tonight to look through everything - we'll see.

Thanks...
