How do I move Public Folders from an Exchange Server in one Organization to an Exchange Server in Another Organization?

Hi Brontosaurus,

Can you elaborate on this one.

I have created a new Exchange organisation and I need the public folders from my old organisation importing.

I have used DSExport to export the public folders and was about to use DSImport to import into my new organisation.

Is this the correct way and do you know if it will work ?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure DSEXPORT is used to transfer directory attributes, not data. So, you can use this tool to transfer the list of folders and their associated permissions, but the content will still need to be copied to/from PST file.

Bronto is right. To simplify this:

(1) Create a personal folder from within outlook.

(2) (Make sure you have rights to the public folders
you will be moving)
* Copy each public folder in question to the
personal folder in your outlook (simply
right click on public folder, select "Copy folder"
and copy it to your personal folders.
(3) The above steps create the pst file on the hard drive
Now on the new organization you can import this pst
file by opening up your outlook program and importing
by clicking on "Tools==>Immport and Export".
(4) Once this pst file is imported into your outlook
profile in the new organization you can copy or move
the public files from your personal folders down to
the "All Public Folders" tree.
