Move one exchange 2K3 to a different exchange 2K3 machine

This seems like a silly question. I have a Domain controller doing Dc and exchange tasks. I have recently bought a new box to put exchange alone on. How do i migrate from the one exchange 2003 to new exchange 2003. At the install wizard it asks if it's a first installation or an additional. It will be the only installation after all the mailboxes are migrated. I plan on uninstalling the other exchange server after the new one is properly implemented and migrated. Please let me know which steps i should do. I'm confused.

Rough Overview:
Install the second server into the same sight as the first. Then you can use the Move Mailbox Wizard to move your mailboxes.

If you have Public Folders, set up replication between the two servers. After you get replication, break the link and set the primary location as the new server.

Move your MX record or change NAT to point to the new Exchange Server to ensure you are still getting mail delivered.

Notify your users of any change in URL for OWA.

You can now uninstall the original Exchange.

extremely helpful thank you. i have one smaller question. through a firewall, should the one external email point to the dc and the exchange server for different ports, or should a new mx record be created to point to the new exchange server?

Port 25 should be directed from your firewall to the Exchange server. Public DNS needs to have an MX that points either to a public IP configured on the Exchange box or to an address you will NAT on your firewall.

One mroe thing, for OWA you should also allow ports 80 and 443.
