Good morning. My company is moving approximately 13 people to a shared office within our building. The company that runs the office will be providing phone service and each person will be assigned a new number in the office. However each employee wants to keep their existing numbers, but the people that are moving will be replaced by new users in our existing space and I will need to use the TN's and the phones to be assigned to new hires. My first thought was to change each extension to an ACDN and forward to the new number but I believe that ACDN will not allow you to call forward off net. Or the only alternative I believe would be to change the extensions to "phantom numbers" and call forward to the new numbers.

Does anyone else out there have any other suggestions on how I might be able to accomplish this ?

Also how does one go about setting up a phantom number ?

As always many thanks to all who are kind enough to respond.

Im doing the same thing here, and I have the users original DID set up as an ACDN forwarding to their new numbers. ACDN can forward externally, just be sure to use the full string of digits including "9" if you use it for external calls:

ie:
acdn = 9+1+npa+nxx+xxxx

also remember that they will need to use the voicemail on the new numbers and new system, not the old system

you can add a phontom loop or card, or just use the ports above number 15 ( 4 0 0 16 is soft) remote call forward is covered in the software feature guide, you'll need the number assigned in ffc for rempte call forward, then use the spree code and the feature code.. i you use remote call forward to the network, you'll have problems with each call using to trunks. why not use either a tie cable or a remote cab of some type.. then they are all on the sane swrich and voice mail.. voice mail doesn't work that well with numbers sent off net then back in

being a good customer focused sort of guy, i always make them change numbers. set up their old #'s to a voice announcement telling the caller what the new # is. run that for 3 months & you can recover the old #'s. much tidier for numbering scheme maintnenance
