move object with layer mask

...quick update:
...another way is to add a group object above the smart object layer (third icon from right at the bottom of the layers palette)...
...with a mask already applied on a smart object layer, if you move the mask to the group object layer above (not in it) then place the smart object INTO the group, you can then link the group object to the mask...
...transforms are then achievable...
