Move Domain into another Forest

I know it is possible to move a domain from one tree to another within a forest and also rename a domain in a forest, but can you move a domain from one forest to another? Windows 2003 AD of course.

Not really - as the domain is part of a forest. The forest level IS your active directory. What is a domain? Essentially just a container.

Would you move an OU from one forest to another?

There are a couple of tools that allow you to do it, (not sure if REMDOM is one of them - but I'm sure MS do have a couple) - however I would recommend having a trust between the two forests or just not bother.

It's very, very messy! (SID's won't resolve - so SQL, ISA, IIS, MCMS, Exchange, and pretty much all file shares would simply flop over and die!)

Try looking into REMDOM, but even if it is possible using it or other tools I would still advise migrating objects from the domain into a new domain in the other forest.

Good Luck,

Steve.
