I am in the process of moving the mailboxes from server 1 to server 2.

What is the best way of doing it?
1) Do I use "active directory users and computers" to transfer all mailboxes, (This method would take lot of time)
2) can I just copy the .edb and the .stm files from server 1 and plug it into server2.

If copying the edb and stm works (which I would prefer), how do I go about doing this. How do I plug it into the server2.

Your advice and experiance is valuable to me. So please help me make the right choice.

Thanks

This is an Exchange 2000 Question.

Both servers are Win 2000 Advanced server SP3 and Exchange 2000 has SP3.

Thanks

If you want want to move all the datebase, copy you edb file to the other server. (if your database is big use ntbackup it will be easier...)( Her it make 125Gb and throw the network it is not working.... but with NTbackup it is working great).
But if you only want to move some mailboxes and not all of them.... Use active directories... Right click on your user and use Exchange Task option...

My Database is around 14 GB. I was just testing on a test server.

I copied the .edb and the .stm file from server1 (after stopping the service) and copied it to server2 and brought it up as another Mailbox store and mounted it. It comes up fine. But when I try to access the transfered mailboxes with OWA. it does not work. When I try to make a MAPI connection, it looks for server1 and not server2 . Is it some type of replication problem. How does the Active Directory find the new mailbox location. Is there anyway to force replication between the active directory and the exchange stores.

I really need BIG HELP in this
