This sounds really dumb, but I need help. When I am on the internet, and I try to scroll up using the mouse wheel, it goes back to the last page. It works like I am using the back button instead of scrolling up. I've tried going into the mouse properties, but don't see any problems. This started when I replaced my hard drive after a crash.

What browser are you using? It could be an add-on or a browser option that's re-configured how it handles mouse wheel events.

Can you scroll normally in other applications like Notepad?

I'm using IE, and yes, I can scroll normally in other applications. Now that you mention it, that makes sense because I've tried 2 different mouses and it's a problem for both of them.

I don't use IE myself but I know that the latest version, IE7, has loads of fancy tricks so it may have the option to re-configure the mouse wheel behaviour.

What kind of mouse are you using? I used to own a Logitech (Forgotten model) that had software which allowed you to change the function of each key. If your mouse has some associated software, maybe find it and check that the functions haven't been 'messed up'?
