Mouse Wheel Zoom

I have a question...I have previously been using photoshop CS3, but now use Photoshop CS3 Extended...but for pictures I cannot use my mouse wheel to zoom in/ zoom out...is there a way I can set it up so I can do it with my mouse wheel? Before, CS3 did it automatically...but Extended doesn't...off to the right is a plate where you can zoom manually.

...preferences > general > options, turn zoom with scroll wheel on...

...this is the same for CS2 and possibly CS3 (although I only have the CS3 Extended to verify against)...
