Hello,

I am having trouble with a new PC (it came with Windows XP preinstalled and I think it is a software problem). Every once in a while, mostly after logon, the mouse stops responding. The keyboard and other programs all work fine, and the only solution I could find is rebooting the computer. Because the mouse is brand new, I believe the problem is software-related. Could an OS reinstall solve this problem?

Approximate configuration follows:
* Pentium 4, not the dual-core series
* 1 GiB of RAM
* A4Tech Mouse, model SWOP-80
* Windows XP (not sure whether it's Professional or Home Edition)

If need be, I can supply more accurate details regarding the configuration (I am currently at another PC). Any insight towards dealing with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Vlad

Replace the mouse and see if you have the same problem with another one. If you have the same problem - yo'll know it's OS or at least PC-related. If you don;t have the same problem - it's the mouse.

I'm assuming it's a USB mouse - have you tried it in other USB slots and had the same issues?
