I'm running NTworkstation and when I loaded the OS and the applications a serial mouse was attached and working. The programmer needs the serial port for a link-up w/ handheld so tried to install a PS/2 and USB mouse. Both failed. There is only one port available (I can't find a place to add one) and the mouse seems tied to the keyboard (i8042 driver). Can someone help me get a non-serial mouse on this system?

Thanks!!!

what happen when you added the ps2 mouse, nt does not like usb that much it will have problems i think microsoft droped suport of nt 4.0 and usb not sure on that? but did you try a ps2 card or what? So long and thanks for all the fish.

I removed the serial mouse and attached a PS/2 mouse then booted up the system.

so the computer has a ps2 port for a mouse on it and that did not work you have a ps keyboard on it and does keyboard work if it does not it might be time for a new MOBO or a ps2 card work with the mouse but not the keyboard So long and thanks for all the fish.

Thanks for your help.

The Ps/2 keyboard works fine. Only the ps/2 mouse is not working.

See if you have an option to "Enable PS2 Mouse" in your bios. One of my machines does have this option.
