Sometimes it happens that my mousepointer moves automatically without touching the mouse. Can I fix this ?

1) What type of mouse is it? (IBM notebook "red dot", TouchPad, regular PS/2 mouse, etc)
2) Are you sure it's not moving on it's on? Quite often the weight of the mouse cable hanging over the back of the table is enough to cause the mouse to move a bit.
3) If it's a "red dot" mouse, unfortunately, these mouse pointers just end up doing that. Touching them or not, they eventually 'drift'.
4) If it's a TouchPad, if your sensitivity is too high, even surrepticiously brushing it (sometimes so surrepticiously that you don't even consider yourself to be touching it) causes a reaction.
5) Is it a slow 'drifting' motion or more random shifting movements?
6) If it's a regular PS/2 mouse, have you cleaned it (inside)?

It is a desktop PC (DELL) with a non-optical mouse (with caple). I 'm sure it is not the problem of a to weighty cable or something like that. I think it is a problem within Windows.

Also check that no one is running remote control software such as pc anywhere or dameware. It is possible if you are on a network that the administrator or someone else is accessing your PC

It is better to ask for for directions rather than wander blindly... Where am I and why did I ever get into I.T. :)
