Mouse cursor stops moving but mouse is still working?????

Hi,

Having a problem on one of my machines.....

Everytime i use the machine (sometimes it happens as soon as you log on to windows, sometimes after an hour or more), the mouse pointer freezes but you can still blindly control the mouse and everything is fine.
I had to check the option in the mouse options that allows to see the mouse location with CTRL to help me but with a bit of patience, you can navigate through menus and that as if the mouse was working just fine - its just the pointer that freezes..

Any ideas what could be causing this or anyone else had this problem??

Have you tried unchecking "Hide Pointer when typing" under "Pointer Options"?

it was already unchecked and i've tried and tested all sorts of options and settings for the mouse itself but nothing seems to sort it. seems to me its a software or xp issue because when the pointer freezes, the mouse still works fine, just have to guess where the pointer should be..

its annoying because i have to reboot everytime it happens
