I am looking for suggestions on tools people use to mount there nfs shares on their windows OS.
Running Solaris 8, shares are already setup and can mount from other unix boxes.
Input from anyone is appreciated, will look at all suggestions.

Thanks

There are several PC applications that will do what you need. We use ViewNow by Netmanage at work. It works pretty well... Only thing you have to do is set up your Solaris Server's NIS tables (hosts, netgroup) to resolve you PC network information. Once installed, you go through My Netwok on your PC.

bfitzmai;

Thanks for the posts.

I have actually set up Samba, was pulled off on another issue and by the time I got back to Samba someone blew away my test system. I had not completed mounting from the PC so I don't know if it was going to work.

To much to do so little time.

Keep up the suggestions and ask you Admin friends, we could all benefit from these answers.

Thanks

I have used Samba and Windows Services for UNIX. Samba is pretty cool and easy to setup, but can be complicated for new users. Windows Services for UNIX is (I hate to admit it) but a great product from M$. It comes with a built-in UNIX shell so you can run UNIX scripts and Windows command in the shell window. It was great for me since we are adding an Active Directory domain to our network. It also can perform NFS Client/Server, NIS Server, Windows-UNIX, UNIX-Windows username mapping and password synchronization. Best of all M$ has just made it available for free to download.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I did try Hummingbird Maestro with PCNFS and HXXNFS but I had no luck since PCNFS is not supported in Solaris 8 up.

I will again try setting up Samba as this does seem to be the tool for what I want to do.

Thanks again for your input and effort.

Samba was the answer. Able to mount my nfs shares to my pc as network drive. A little bit of a headache(most of it self induced) but worth it.

Thanks
