Motherboard temp just doesn't seem right

I recently installed Hmonitor on my desktop to get some temps and numbers about my computer. CPU1 seems to run fine between 39 and 43 degrees C. My CPU2 seems to go up and down quickly so I'm wondering what that is doing... But my biggest problem is there seems that my motherboard temp is 64-66 degrees C and it's around the same temp when i left my computer on all day as compared to when i left it off all night and turned it on the next morning...also the voltages are in a red zone and i'm wondering if they may be dangerous also...any help would be appreciated...also if you can recommend any temperature monitor downloads I would appreciate it

If you don't have a two processor system you can ignore CPU2. The Hmonitor software is displaing bogus information there. If you right click on the application and then click settings, you can change the expected voltages for Core and Aux. You need to know what they should be for you CPU and MOBO though.

Also in HMonitor "Hardware Setup" is an option for Sensors (Diode, Transistor, or Thermistor). Change the sensor type for your motherboard and see if you get a more reasonable temperature reading.

when i changed it under hardware config the temp for the mainboard just went up to 70 and stayed there

Did any type of temp. checking come with your motherboard (would be on install disk)? If so, you can check the temp in BIOS (on reboot), and compare with the temps. given by the new program. I use a temp probe installed in the CPU heatsink. It reads 6º low, so I compensate for this. By the way, I do this because I haven't found a program that is accurate with my K7VTA3 mobo (tried 4 or 5, even contacted the program writers, to no avail).

When you think about it a motherboard temp of 64C when the CPU is between 39/43C is impossible!
With an air cooling the CPU can never be cooler than the air being blown onto it!
Generally a good air cooled solution keeps the CPU temp within 10/12C of the air temp in the case, eg:
Case temp 37C
CPU temp 46C
You obviously have a reading error often cured with a bios flash.

I was told by many to update my bios but Soyo says I need to download this file to a floppy disk and do a bunch of other things and my comp doesn't even have a floppy drive so is there any other way I can update not using a floppy drive? Also, hmonitor says my "mainboard" is in the 60's...my friend said that the values that hmonitor may be giving me are the core and outside temp of my CPU (65 being core and 45 being exterior)...please help asap

With the stock heatsink my ASUS P4R800V was showing the CPU normally 5 degrees above MB temp. After I installed a larger Zalman HS/Fan combo, it wen't the other way... at idle my CPU was at 38 and the mobo sensor would show 40 (Fan blowing hot air right onto the mobo sensor?)

Really the CPU temp is the most crucial to keep an eye on. The only reason to worry about case temps would be regarding the hard drive temps. Check your airflow, does the case get adequate ventilation, or is the only exhasut fan the one on the PSU?

I installed that HD temp checker and it said that my HD's temp is 25 C......is that a good temp? and also to answer your question about fans....i have 2 fans in the back and 1 fan in the front blowing air out of the case and a fan on the side blowing air in, plus whatever fan is on my power supply

25 is nice and low. At peak useage mine will hit 45, but average around 35.

I found that by removing my front intake fan, not only did my setup run a bit quieter, it also dropped the case temp by 3 degrees.

Remember that more fans does not necessarily equate to better airflow.
