Motherboard for core 2 duo....is 8 pin pwer connecter needed?

Hi...

Have seen a mobo I like

Yet it does not mention 8 pin connecter.

I thought it is a requirement for core 2 duo...?

As far as I can see it doesn't have the 8pin connector so obviously that means it doesn't need it.
Note* this board still has the traditional 12v 4 pin AS WELL as the full 24pin power cord.
I've built several Core Duo's but never saw anything saying that the 8pin connector was a definate requirement.
I guess it's a trend on most motherboards just to cover the bases ie: Intel 6800 Extreme with 2 X X1900XTX's
