My department has a help line which rings on everyone's phones at the same time via bridged appearances. This uses up buttons that could otherwise be used for other purposes. I would like to create a coverage answer group (CAG) so that I can do away with all these bridged appearances. Unfortunately, we have 10 phones that need to ring and a CAG will only support 8 (surprisingly).
I tried "piggy backing" two CAG's. That didn't work. I then tried creating a "phantom extension" (x port) which was listed on the CAG and adding bridged appearances to SOME of the phones for this extension. At least this would free up buttons on some of the phones. Unfortunately, it appears as though bridged appearances don't ring when a call comes in from a CAG.
By the way, we have a G3si v11 (just upgraded). Does anyone have a better solution? Is there a way to "piggy back" CAG's? Is there a way to get bridged appearances to ring when a call comes in from a CAG? Or, is a CAG not the best way to perform this task?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Ron
