More Audio Problems

Alright, I previously wrote a post describing a problem with my headset not producting enough volume from the sound card, problem fixed, I got an amp. Now I have a problem with both speakers and headset. I am running Windows Me and have a Crystal Fusion Sound card.

I admit, to save money on an amp "though I found one later in a pile of junk", I screwed around with volumes and sound controles just to see if i could fix it. Now I can only have sound from one application at a time. This means that listening to music will cut out any other sounds from windows or games or sometimes vice versa. Or i'm in a group chat program "ventrilo" it sound fine, but the sound completely quits when I fire up another application that uses sound, therefore playing any game would stop all other sounds from ventrilo, or mediaplayer. Basically, only one program gets to use sound at a time.

Try unsintalling Sound Card Drivers (in Device Manager) and restarting, and letting Windows install generic drivers.

If that fixes it, then download the latest drivers from the manufacturer and reinstall them...

P.S. I wonder why I'm the only one giving suggestions to your queries? lol..

Wow, I just noticed that you are the only one replying to my problems, thank you very much. But the problem is that Windows Me do not have generic drivers for my soundcard, worse still I did have the latest drivers for the soundcard and have uninstalled and re-installed them many times.

What about the drivers supplied on the CD that came with your Soundcard?

Does your motherboard have on-board audio? (most do since 2000) If so, enable the on-board sound in the BIOS and plug your speakers/headphones into the correct sockets for the on-board sound, and use that for now until the problem is fixed.

Don't worry about it, I'm reformating to make way for Windows Xp, but thanks for all the help.
