Monitoring Trunks in ASA 2.1.11

I have just recently upgraded to ASA 2.1.11 and one of the features in it are that it no longer requires outlook to send email...it just uses smtp now.

So, I decided to start using some of the advanced features and one of them I setup was for the "monitor trunks" feature to email me when a trunk is down. It checks every 15 minutes.

The problem I have is that I have 5 trunks that are typically always "down" because they are used for development purposes. So, I get an email every 15 minutes saying these trunks are down.

Does anyone know how to exclude those 5 trunks from being checked for up/down status?

I would really like to use the monitor trunk feature but getting a ton of dummy emails will cause me not to pay attention to them and then of course the feature does no good.

Thanks so much and any help is greatly appreciated.

If you go to the second page of the trunk group form there is a field on the right-hand side of the page 'Maintenance Tests'. Change that field to a 'n'. If you have maintenance permissions run the command 'test trunk x/y clear' for each member of trunk group x and member y, i.e. 'test trunk 4/1 clear'. The switch should respond with 'Resolved'. Wait about an hour and do 'list measurement outage-trunk last-hour'. Those trunks should not report any more.

4merAvaya,

Thanks, that is working out great but I am having a little hiccup.

Here is what has happened so far for this to work. I changed all the values on these trunks the other day so that part is already done.

Today, I enter 'test trunk 7/1 clear' and I get the following message.

TEST RESULTS

Port Maintenance Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code

01B0701 ISDN-TRK 07/01 36 PASS
01B0701 ISDN-TRK 07/01 255 FAIL 4

Now, in about an hour if I run that again I get a "resolved" as you stated. Why do you think I'm having to wait the hour for test 255 (signal group test) to chill out? Should I do a "test sig group x" to get this to resolve?

btw, the trunks that I have already done are not showing up in the 'monitor trunks' email.

Thanks!

Mike

The Monitor Trunks command uses the data from 'list measurements outage-trunk last hour'. It is always looking at the previous hour, even after the trunks are fixed.
