Monitoring system changes

I am looking for an application that will allow me to take a snapshot of a computer system at one point and then take another snapshot at a later time and compare the two for changes.

For example, I would like to take a snapshot of a computer prior to installing an application then after the installation take another snapshot and compare the two. This way I would be able to tell exactly what was changed on the system. What registry entries were removed, added, or modified. What files were created, modified, or removed.
